Who We Are ....
Hearts With Hope is a loving community of mothers who have lost children. We are a small non-profit group based in Avon, Connecticut, and are a non-denominational, faith-based group. Our goal is to help and support mothers through this unimaginable loss.
It is difficult to carry on or to find hope when you have lost a child, no matter the cause of death. Having a community of other mothers who understand the nuances of child loss is invaluable. We help each other to move forward through this pain with understanding, love, faith, kindness, and compassion.
Our programs include monthly support meetings, and many have focused workshops on a variety of topics, such as; Navigating through the holidays, Secondary losses, Sibling grief, Dealing with blame, shame, and guilt, What to do with your child’s belongings, Ways to honor your child, and many more.
We offer social gatherings at various times of the year where we support each other in a less formal atmosphere. Previous events have included pizza party gatherings, Elizabeth Park in the summer, gatherings at member’s homes, gentle yoga, and hikes.
We also have an annual retreat at Mercy by the Sea, a retreat center in Madison, CT, which is a weekend of grief support that also includes healing and time to honor our children. Both tears and laughter are shared. See more on the retreat here.
